Jaylee's broken leg!
Okay so these are the X-rays of Jaylee's leg you can't see the break very well at all, if you look closely below her knee cap you can see a really really thin line almost looks like a scratch on the picture. That is where she broke it. She broke her Tibia and her Fibula...I think that is how you spell it?! It was a clean break no where near her growth plate and the Dr. said if you break your leg this is the kind of break you want to have. They didn't have to re align it or anything just put her in a cast. So....I know you are all wondering how in the heck did she do it? Well...
We were in Rexburg for a funeral and we were at Brie's house(Blair's baby sis) And Jaylee was sassing me with her attitude and trying to kick and hit me, so I asked Blair if he would please take her to time out. Well she was fighting him the whole way and tripped him up, he landed on her leg and heard a pop. Jaylee has tripped me dozens of times this way, Blair unfortunately got the unlucky fall. I could tell right away from her cry that she was seriously hurt and I didn't even see it happen I was in the living room. I don't handle things well when my kids get hurt, when she was younger she fell off a chair and put her tooth through her lip, I thought I was going to pass out from the blood. And blood had never bothered me before. So once again I was not handling it well. Luckily Cherea (blair's older sister) was there and she took things into control I am soooo GRATEFUL she was there. She pulled it together got us in the car and Jaylee on my lap and we were headed up the ER. I got it together in the car finally and was able to distract her with stories of how we were going to the hospital she was born at and all the fun things that happened on the day she was born.
The ER was amazingly quick with us!! We were outta there in an hour and half, with her all fixed up. She did great the Disney channel distracted her quite well. We were very lucky because the orthopedic surgeon happened to be in the next room because he was going to have to do surgery that night. Otherwise they would have put her in a splint and we would have had to come back the next day to put a cast on, but he was right there!! YAY!!
Unfortunately the fun didn't end there. The next morning we had to make our trip back home, when Jaylee woke up her leg was hurting her pretty bad, so we gave her the meds they had prescribed us for the pain. BIG MISTAKE!!! They made her soooo soooo sick and she puked the whole way home. Poor little baby girl did not have a fun drive at all!!! But now we are home and all is well, she has a little walker to help her get around she will have her cast on a month and then they will x ray her leg again and if it is healed properly it comes off, if not then she gets a new cast. She is back in school as of Thursday, I dropped her off the other day and her friends were soooo sweet, asking her to carry her bag, or help her through the door all these little things, sweetest thing to see!
So I bet you are wondering how Blair was through all of this? Well he was and is completely heartbroken about what happened, I don't know who cried more him or her. He keeps questioning himself, "what if I had made myself fall the other way" things like that. I have been trying to tell him it was just an accident, but I have a feeling he will always feel a little guilt about it. My sweet Blair was so upset and just felt awful. Jaylee kept telling him "daddy it's okay, I know you didn't mean to, it was an accident. I love you daddy!) That made him cry more. Gosh I LOVE my sensitive man!! He is doing better now Lovies his little girl to pieces!
WHEW that was a long post!!! And Max? He is still the MIGHTY MAX!!! and he is walking!!! :)
